What we hold
A free look stores the postcode, the product and the time, with no IP address, no cookie and no email. An order stores the postcode, the report, your email address, the time you ticked the consent box, the words you ticked, the IP address the order came from, and the Stripe identifiers. Stripe holds your card details, not us. The server keeps ordinary access logs for security.
Why, in law
- Producing and delivering the report you paid for: contract, UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b).
- Keeping the order and invoice record: legal obligation, Article 6(1)(c).
- Rate limiting, fraud prevention and abuse detection: legitimate interests, Article 6(1)(f).
- We do not send marketing email. The email address you give us is used to send your report and nothing else.
How long
- Free lookups: 30 days, then deleted by a scheduled job.
- Orders and reports: six years, because tax law asks for it.
- Report links: 30 days from payment, after which a fresh link is sent on request.
Who else sees it
Stripe (payment), Resend (email delivery) and our hosting provider process data for us under contract. The public data services receive only the postcode coordinates needed to run the query. We never sell personal data and we never put a postcode or a name in a web address, an analytics event or an error report.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law lets us. Email support@propertychecks.example. You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
